Designer bridges the gap between CAD and CAM by offering an intuitive, direct modelling environment for designing, repairing, and preparing parts for manufacturing.
It supports advanced reverse engineering and modelling techniques, allowing users to create or modify geometry from scanned data or existing designs with ease. By removing the constraints of traditional parametric systems, it enables fast, flexible design changes and seamless transition from design to production across multiple CAD formats.

Direct modelling frees the user from the constraints of a traditional modelling system. Rather than modifying a lengthy series of parameters to make a design change, direct modelling allows the user to push, pull and drag the geometry to obtain their desired shape. These changes can be completely freeform or driven by numeric increments and measurements taken from existing geometry. Knowledge of how the original model was constructed is no longer necessary and design changes are not constrained to the original methods of creation.

DESIGNER provides powerful CAM preparation tools for creating raw stock material and fixture models, enabling users to define the manufacturing setup quickly and accurately. Stock can be generated automatically from part geometry or manually defined to represent real-world material conditions, while fixtures can be designed, positioned, and modified directly within the same environment—ensuring complete alignment with the machining process.

Small gaps between surfaces on imported models can be automatically healed preventing the time consuming process of rebuilding very small surface patches. Where surfaces are corrupt or missing.

Many times the incoming CAD data includes geometric features that are either unnecessary for CAM, or will not be created by the machining process itself. Post-machining processes such as laser engraving, electrode marking and other techniques are often represented on the model. While this was important for the CAD design and will ultimately reside in the final component, such markings often impede the job of the CAM programmer.

DESIGNER provides powerful model simplification tools that help users prepare complex CAD data for efficient CAM programming. Before machining, models can be cleaned up by removing unnecessary details such as small holes, fillets, logos, or text—features that are irrelevant to the machining process and can slow toolpath generation.
Simplification reduces data complexity, improving system performance and toolpath calculation speed, while ensuring the part geometry remains accurate to its manufacturing intent. Direct modelling makes it easy to edit imported CAD files from any source, enabling quick adjustments without needing the original design history.
By focusing only on the essential manufacturing geometry, users can create clean, optimized models that streamline downstream processes, reduce programming time, and enhance overall machining efficiency.

Designer supports the import of DXF and DWG files allowing the user to transform existing 2D data into a 3D model by simply reusing the imported profiles from the original data. Imported data automatically creates sketch profile regions making the transformation from 2D to 3D easier than ever.

DESIGNER enables users to generate fully detailed 2D technical drawings directly from 3D CAD models, ensuring seamless transition from design to documentation. Views such as orthographic, section, detail, and isometric can be created instantly and linked to the 3D model, maintaining full associativity—any design change automatically updates the drawing.
Comprehensive dimensioning and annotation tools allow users to add tolerances, surface finishes, datum symbols, and custom notes with ease. Standardized drawing templates, borders, and title blocks ensure consistent presentation and compliance with company or industry standards.
Whether for manufacturing, inspection, or communication with suppliers, DESIGNER’s technical drawing tools deliver accurate, professional documentation that reflects the true geometry of the model and supports a complete digital manufacturing workflow.

DESIGNER includes a comprehensive set of design analysis tools that help users evaluate and validate geometry before it reaches the CAM stage. With capabilities such as draft, undercut, curvature, wall thickness, and edge analysis, users can quickly identify potential manufacturing issues and ensure part geometry is optimized for machining.
Dynamic visual feedback highlights problem areas directly on the model, allowing for immediate correction using DESIGNER’s direct modelling tools. These analysis features also support measurement, comparison, and inspection of imported CAD data, ensuring design integrity and manufacturability—especially when working with complex or repaired models.
Whether preparing parts for machining, verifying design intent, or checking data quality from multiple CAD sources, DESIGNER’s design analysis tools provide the insight and control needed for accurate, efficient, and reliable CAM preparation.
